Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Our first stop was lunch

I had the avocado tacos with refried beans.
Ok not great.

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum brings you in close contact with the diverse flora and fauna of the Sonoran Desert and the adjacent Sea of Cortez. Two miles of paths wander through the varied biome's of the Sonoran Desert.

Santa Catalina Island Rattlesnake

Cantil pit viper has a reputation for having a nasty disposition and being extremely dangerous.

Sonoran Desert toad looks like a plastic model, but it is the real thing.
It is the largest native toad in the US. It has exudes toxins from glands within its skin

Saguaro cactus stand tall on the hillsides.

They grow arms after 50-75 years to store additional water

One theory is that frost causes the Saguaro cactus arms to turn down.

Apex predator chilling out

Apex predator food
I would not expect to find Prairie dogs in the Sonoran Desert

Big Horn Sheep with not so big horns

There is also an art gallery and here are a few of the paintings I enjoyed.
